Celebrating 10 years...connecting people who care
   with causes that matter
.

Currently the Community Foundation of Western Nevada manages assets of over $50 million.

Working together works wonders.
We receive funds from individuals and corporations and then make grants to nonprofit organizations to meet current community priorities and prepare for tomorrow's challenges.

> During 2007 the Community Foundation awarded grants and scholarships totaling more than $7 millon.

There is an application process for grants disbursed from Community Partnership Grant Program. All other grants are specifically disbursed on the advisement of the donors.
The Community Foundation of Western Nevada does not accept unsolicited grant applications.

Types of Grants
The Community Foundation of Western Nevada sends two types of grants to community organizations:

Donor Advised Grants. The majority of grants are sent from donor advised funds on the recommendation of our donors. Rarely the donor advisors will publish a request for proposals and publish a grant application. You will find a list of grant proposal requests on this site.

Community Partnership Grants. The Community Foundation sends its congratualations to the 25 nonprofit organizations that are the recipients of the first round of Community Partnership Grants. With these grants the Board of the Community Foundation is committing to action: “The mission of the Community Foundation of Western Nevada is to strengthen our community through philanthropy by connecting people who care with causes that matter.”

$125,000 was awarded. Grants to selected organizations will be in the range of $500 to $5,000 range annually and organizations requested this amount each year for a multi-year grant/project up to three years.

All non profit organizations that serve Northern Nevada were invited to apply for funding in one of three areas that support capacity building:

  • Support for management professional development and leadership skills.
  • Support for endowment creation or development.
  • Support for the acquisition of technology.

The 2008 Community Partnership Grant Request For Proposals (RFP) is published and available in What's New. Capacity Building remains the funding priority.
